Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that centre-back Nemanja Vidic will remain United skipper for the remainder of the 2010/2011 campaign. This is despite Rio Ferdinand's return from injury, with the towering England defender donning the captain's armband for the goalless draw with Rangers in the absence of Vidic.
Ferdinand took back the captain's armband for his much anticipated return against Rangers on Tuesday evening.
The England captain partnered Wesley Brown, Chris Smalling and Fabio Da Silva as Fergie foolishly made a number of changes to his strongest XI.
However, Sir Alex has confirmed that Vidic will be skipper for the remainder of the campaign and will reassume his role on Sunday as United entertain fierce rivals Liverpool.
The United boss said: "He started the campaign as captain and it will stay that way".
