Manchester United produced a stunning display on the Emerald Isle as Sir Alex Ferguson's men fired seven goals past a League of Ireland XI. Ji-Sung Park bagged a brace with goals from Michael Owen, Javier Hernandez, Antonio Valencia, Jonny Evans and Nani helping the Red Devils to a 7-1 win.

This fixture was organised to celebrate the re-opening of Lansdowne Road. The visit of Sir Alex Ferguson's men saw the first football match played at the new stadium.

Park and Owen both hit the target before the interval before United went goal crazy after half-time.

Exciting Mexican frontman Hernandez made it three, before Valencia, Park and Evans heaped more misery on the Irish select XI.

Dave Mulcahy scored on 78 minutes - but a near-50,000 crowd were treated to one more goal as Nani fired home from the penalty spot to make it a magnificent seven.

Wayne Rooney played the final 45 minutes for United but couldn't find the target.

This was the second friendly in a row in which United helped mark the opening of a new stadium. Only days ago, the Reds suffered a 3-2 defeat at Mexican outfit Chivas opened their new home.

United can now look forward to the more serious stuff - with Chelsea awaiting in the Community Shield on the weekend before the new Premier League season gets underway.
