The World Cup is well and truly over and as we all know it was a pretty dire performance by the England team both on & off the pitch. The team let the supporters down with some mediocre stuff on the playing surface and then compounded the situation with limp and lame excuses in the press rooms afterwards. Some will be saying glad that is over for another 4 years, lets get on with the real stuff.
Manchester United and those players fit enough to travel are embarking on another North American tour which includes a game against Celtic on Saturday 17th July. The tour will be followed by more friendlies ahead of the traditional curtain raiser against Chelsea, the double winners, in the Community Shield at Wembley on 8th August.
Big spending Manchester city will be a threat this year as the Red Devils strive to win their ecord breaking 19th domestic title. Liverpool will be boosted by the arrival of Roy Hodgson as their new manager and the London trio of Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs will ensure that the comingseason is a competitive one at the top of the league.
Sir Alex Ferguson will need to raise moral and hope that the Carling Cup holders can recreate their best form and get off to a winning start against Newcastle on the opening Monday night game of the season.
Monday 16th August kick off 8pm.
