#3 for Amos

Youngster Ben Amos is set to be Manchester United’s third-choice goalkeeper next season. Sir Alex Ferguson will not turn to the transfer market after the departure of Ben Foster, instead allowing youngster Amos to battle it out with Edwin van der Sar and Tomasz Kuszczak for first-team honours.

Amos will be hoping to get the chance to impress during United's pre-season tour of America - and the youngster will be boosted by the news of his elevation to third in United's pecking order.

Goalkeeper coach Eric Steele has said that he and Sir Alex have seen enough in Amos' ability to suggest that he is ready to challenge for a first-team berth.

He added: We've thrown the gauntlet down, so it's up to him now to fulfil his potential. The challenge is for us to continue his development, but also for him to take the opportunity and make the most of it."

Amos has one United appearance to his name - starting in a 3-1 League Cup win over Middlesbrough in a contest which took the headlines for the wrong reasons after midfield starlet Rodrigo Possebon suffered a horror leg break.

Dont really have much of a problem with this.

VDS and PIG should be fine for the season, the lad will most likely not be needed much.

We'll see, but I think he may just be another young GK that we hold on to in the hope that he becomes amazing when we should just let him go. I'm thinking Foster, Zieler, etc.
