Nani celebrates goal

Nani's first-half strike kept Manchester United's Premier League title hopes alive on Sunday. The Red Devils must now beat Stoke next weekend and hope Chelsea fail to beat Wigan at Stamford Bridge.

The Scousers failed to do United a big favour in the early kick-off on Saturday with Steven Gerrard inexplicably gifting Didier Drogba the opening goal as Chelsea bagged a 2-0 win at Anfield.

That result meant United were under severe pressure to win at the Stadium of Light. Chelsea's vastly superior goal difference meant only a win would keep United's title hopes alive - and the Reds delivered with a determined and workmanlike display.

Nani scored the only goal of the game on 28 minutes. The Portuguese winger completed a fine attacking move with a superb curved shot that beat Craig Gordon in the bottom corner.

United should have extended their lead with Dimitar Berbatov missing two glorious chances and Michael Carrick having an effort bundled off the line.

However, there was to be no second goal and the Reds were left nervously hanging on at the death to seal a crucial three points.

Forgetting any goal difference miracles - United must now beat Stoke City at Old Trafford and hope Wigan get at least a point at Stamford Bridge to bag a fourth successive league title. It promises to be a memorable weekend.

One thing of note in the game was how Berbatov ilustrated in great detail how ludicously sh!te he is.

I actually laughed out loud at him more than once. Pretty brutal in fairness.

Nani is showing some real promise of late though and given his skill set and speed is really exciting.

Lets just hope that the sun shines on us on the last day

Berbatov's performance made me want to rip my eyes out as it would be less painful. Even more than usual, that is. GET RID OF HIM.
