Manchester United's hopes of winning the Premier League crown for a fourth successive season took a blow on Sunday afternoon. Sir Alex Ferguson's men were held to a goalless draw at Ewood Park meaning the Red Devils remain behind Chelsea in the hunt for the league title.

With Chelsea fulfilling F.A Cup commitments, United had the chance to return to the top of the Premier League table if they secured victory over Lancashire rivals Blackburn.

However, Fergie's men were left frustrated by their local rivals. The Ewood Park club defended doggedly and Paul Robinson made a string of excellent saves as Rovers held on for a point.

Antonio Valencia missed a glorious one-on-one opportunity before the break, while the unmarked Dimitar Berbatov later missed a superb chance to settle the contest.

With Wayne Rooney once again injured, United lacked a real spark in attack and now sit one point behind Chelsea having played a game more than their fierce title rivals. United will slip to third if Arsenal win at Spurs on Wednesday.

Berbatov? Jesus he is ridiculously bad, seriously, he is just woeful. But who's gonna buy him off us? Noone, cos noone would be that stupid!

Wreckless end of season. Gutted.

Jesus that performance was bad, it wasn't just Berba we were absolutely toothless. I can harly believe it as I say it but I think the players gave up the PL before the whistle which is just bullsh*t.

Look at the brightside - pool are likely to finish 7th!

who am i kidding, nothing bright about that. This just sucks.
Chelsea win the bloody double and we would be lucky to get 2nd.

Not much comfort but i think we are where most thought we would be at the start of the season - not good enough. The injuries and lack of depth of quality finally caught up with us even though we did well (overachieved) most of the season. Lets battle through the rest of the season and see what other twists and turns are in store for us, a miracle may happen yet.

We were awful.Tired looking squad,not physically, just same old same old.Park, Carrick,Berbatov - not for me. Giggs & Scholes - legends but time moves on.Nani (complete with brand new 4 year contract) too inconsistent.Can someone please tell me why a guy on circa £80,000 a week can't clear the first man when taking a corner!Any salvation from the youngsters- Wellbeck,Macheda don't think so.Rafael - a liability & too arrogant to realise his limitations. Take away Rooney, Ronaldo & to a lesser extent Tevez & we are sadly lacking.Some big issues coming up in the close season becasue this squad is nowhere near good enough.

Harsh words cleveland Red, but I fear there is a great deal of truth in what you say.

I can remember it going wrongvery quickly from 1968 - 1974 and six years after winning the European Cup we were relegated!
