A wee bit cocky?

Manchester City forward Emmanuel Adebayor believes that had he been fit for September's Manchester derby, then United wouldn't have secured maximum points. The Red Devils won a memorable game 4-3 with Michael Owen's last-gasp strike sealing a truly memorable victory against Mark Hughes’ big-spenders.

City equalised three times at Old Trafford, with Craig Bellamy's fine 89^th-minute strike looking set to secure a point for Sparky's side.

However, United kept fighting and a fine finish from Owen sealed an amazing 4-3 win and yielded jubilant scenes around the stadium.

City, however, were quick to point out that they were missing Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz and powerhouse frontman Adebayor for the game - - and their £25million summer signing from Arsenal believes he'd have made a huge difference had he been involved.

"No way did United deserve to beat us," said the striker, talking to The People newspaper. "I am sure I would have scored had I been on the pitch.

He went onto add that: "United did not deserve to win - a fair result would have been a draw."

Whilst I say it through gritted teeth, Adebayor is clearly an excellent striker who would probably have caused United extra problems had he been involved. Had he been involved, however, two-goal forward Bellamy or first-goal creator Carlos Tevez may have missed out anyway.

The Reds were worthy winners on derby day after dominating the second-half for long, long periods. Owen's strike may have been late - but was reward for United's attacking endeavours after the break.

Whatever your opinion, however, it's difficult to deny what a mouth-watering prospect that next April's trip to Eastlands is certain to prove.

Firstly, it was adebayors fault he didnt play

He wasnt unfit, he was banned for stampin on van persie so I dont know what he is talkin about there

Plus as stated in the column, Tevez or Bellamy may have missed out meaning their work rate would have decreased

Just like the rest of our rivals, sour grapes and bitterness come to mind

City lost, nothing he or anyone can do about it, get over it, we've played 2 games since then

To be fair to him he would have buried that chance that Tevez put against the post.

However:

1. It's his own damn fault he was banned.
2. In no way was a draw a fair result. During the second half, until a moment of stupidity from Rio, they couldn't get out of their own half.
