In a pulsating game at Old Trafford,Manchester United defeated Arsenal 2-1; coming from a goal down at the interval goals from Wayne rooney (penalty) and a Diaby own goal gave the red devils all three points and inflicted the gunners with their first defeat of the season. The result puts United into third place behind Chelsea and Spurs both of whom continued the 100% starts to the season.

Arsene Wenger was sent off in the final minute for showing his frustration when an Arsenal goal was correctly ruled offside, which added to the total of nine yellow cards flashed during the 90 minutes.

It was a full blooded match and Arsenal played the better football in the first half with United edging the second. Playing with Rooney up front in a lone strikers role United looked at times like the away side but who can argue with Sir Alex as the three points were secured amid joyous scenes around Old Trafford!

After the international break United welcome Manchester city to Old Trafford!
