A team of Manchester United greats will don the red jerseys once again to face a Finn Harps Legends XI. The game is taking place at the Finn Park Stadium in Ballybofey on March 16th; with the likes of Sammy McIlroy, Bryan Robson and Frank Stapleton set to roll back the years with a run-out against past stars representing the Irish league outfit.
Denis Irwin, Liam O'Brien, Lee Sharpe, David May, Clayton Blackmore and Gary Pallister are other names expected to be involved.
Finn Harps recently entertained a team of Liverpool legends, and the success of that event has prompted them to organise a match against United's former stars.
Robson, who will skipper the Reds, said: "I am thrilled to be working with the Manchester United Legends,"
"I am already putting together a strong squad of household names, every player I have spoken to has said yes and I'm not surprised as it's a great way to celebrate St.Patrick's Day in Donegal.
"I heard the Liverpool Legends received a great welcome in October, but I'm sure the United fans will be out in force."
Reports claim that the game will be the first time a ‘Legends' team will be fielded boasting the official Manchester United entity. Whether or not they regularly participate in matches remains to be seen, but it'll be very interesting how the likes of Irwin and Blackmore get in over on the Emerald Isle.
