Rebels march on with late Guiseley win

FC United of Manchester charged into the Northern Premier League play-off places with a 2-1 win over Guiseley on Saturday afternoon. The breakaway club have now won five of their last six league games – sparking hopes that the Rebels could secure an incredible fourth successive promotion and join the ranks of the Conference North.

Leeds-based Guiseley led the game for long periods, before FC staged an impressive late comeback.

Jerome Wright and Tommy Taylor hit the target as Karl Marginson's men continued their rich vein of form to move into the Northern Premier League play-off zone.

1,986 were at Gigg Lane.

Next up for FCUM is a trip to Kingsley Fields, to play Nantwich Town. The Cheshire club are one point and one place above the Reds so a difficult afternoon is in prospect.
