Newspaper reports in Italy claim Jose Mourinho is planning a shock bid for Manchester United forward Carlos Tevez. The South America's future at Old Trafford remains unclear with the player struggling to win a regular first-team spot despite his popularity with the club's supporters. His “loan” at United expires at the end of the current season.

Tevez's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks and months.

The Argentinean international sees his two-year loan deal expire at the end of the season and a permanent move to Old Trafford is not certain.

Kia Joorabchian's Media Sports Investment hold the rights to the player and will be keen to tie-down the player's future within the coming months.

Diego Maradona, Tevez's boss at Argentina, this week sighted Inter Milan as the ideal move for Tevez - and reports coming out of Italy suggest that club officials are eyeing up a potential swoop for the energetic frontman.

Cynics might suggest that Inter's reported interest is one of the reasons Tevez played no part against Chelsea on Sunday. Black-Blues boss Jose Mourinho was watching from the stands ahead of the upcoming European Cup tie.
