Ji-Sung Park has confidently claimed that Manchester United are capable of winning a stunning quintuple of trophies this season. The Red Devils have already won the FIFA Club World Cup – and are still in active in the other four major trophies as we head into 2009. The South Korean international was speaking ahead of crucial games at Southampton in the F.A Cup and Derby in the League Cup.
Most people said the Treble would never be done before United claimed the astonishing Trophy haul in 1999.
Now, Sir Alex Ferguson leads his men into the New Year with the impossible task of winning all five major trophies still a distinct possibility. If the European champions can claim wins over Southampton and Derby in coming weeks, then that dream will become a step closer to reality.
As speculation over his own future continues, United's tricky winger Park is confident that the Reds can achieve new unprecedented levels of success in 2009.
"When you look at how strong our squad is, I think we have a great chance of winning every competition we're in," said Park, speaking to the Manchester Evening News.
"Everyone in our squad has great ability and plays at a high level, not just in matches, but in training as well."
