It was echoes of Villa Park on Saturday evening for Manchester United. The Red Devils claimed a credible point at Spurs in front of the Setanta Sports cameras – but, at the same time, missed an ideal opportunity to gain ground on title rivals after Liverpool and Arsenal were both held. On the balance of play, the draw was probably a fair reflection.

Dimitar Berbatov was passed fit to face his former club as United kicked-off in North London safe in the knowledge that Liverpool and Arsenal had both dropped points.

However, it proved an afternoon of frustration for Sir Alex Ferguson's men as a resolute Spurs kept United's frontline at bay despite a series of second-half opportunities for the European champions.

The hosts enjoyed the better of the first-half with David Bentley and Aaron Lennon both forcing saves from Edwin van der Sar.

United started to take charge after the interval. Cristiano Ronaldo had a goal ruled out for handball, whilst Ryan Giggs' late free-kick was brilliantly saved by Heurelho Gomes.

United remain third in the Premier League table - sitting six points behind the Scousers but with a game in hand. Second-placed Chelsea are four points ahead of United and entertain struggling West Ham on Sunday.

Another disappointing weekend. Last month we drew to Villa a few hours after both Chelsea and Liverpool also drew and this weekend we drew to Spurs the same weekend in which Liverpool and Chelsea both drew.

Next weekend Arsenal play Liverpool and Chelsea is away to Everton whilst we're in Japan.
