Dong Fangzhuo has left Old Trafford with his contract terminated by mutual consent. The Chinese international has struggled to make any serious impact at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old forward has only made three appearances for the Red Devils - and his recent participation for China in the Olympics was overshadowed, from a United perspective, by Anderson’s involvement for Brazil.
Dong was on target against New Zealand as China failed to progress past the group stages in the recent Olympic Games.
There was plenty of hype surrounding his signing in 2004 - though most of that surrounded around the interest the signing met in the Far East rather than Dong's ability in front of goal.
The player does have goalscoring abilities. He netted 35 goals in 61 appearances during a loan spell at Royal Antwerp - but he's struggled to break into United's first-team and the club and player have agreed to part company.
Good luck to Dong in the future. He shouldn't have too many problems finding a new club - but it never worked out for him with United.
