Ole Gunnar Solskjaer maintained his unbeaten record as boss of the reserves with an impressive late comeback at Chelsea. A super strike from Fabio da Silva and a penalty from Darron Gibson clawed the Reds back from two goals down despite the home side dominating for long periods. The result means United win this intriguing two-legged friendly contest 3-2 on aggregate.

Chelsea dominated this 'second leg' for long periods and looked set to win the game thanks to first-half goals from Jacob Mellis and Scott Sinclair, which put a strong Pensioners side in charge at the break.

However,United fought back in the closing stages with Fabio’s 30-yard stunner reducing the deficit on the night and giving United a lead on the away goals rule. Gibson’s penalty three minutes into injury time secured a draw and mean Solskjaer has lead the stiffs through pre-season with an unblemished record.

There was no silverware on the line. This was a behind-closed-doors fixture with the two-legged tie organised to help both reserve teams prepare for the campaign ahead. It's back to competitive action for the Reds next Wednesday as they kick-off the defence of the Manchester Senior Cup against Bury at Gigg Lane.
