Roma skipper Francesco Totti has emerged as a major doubt for Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final, first-leg against United. The midfield playmaker picked up a thigh complaint as his side were held to a 1-1 draw away at Cagliari. However, Sir Alex Ferguson is not convinced at reports claiming the Italian will miss the game.

Fergie is wary of misinformation from the Italian club and will not let Totti's potential absence disrupt his side's preparations.

A spokesman for Roma has said:

"Totti complained of pain in his left thigh. He underwent tests which highlighted a muscle injury. He must rest while the situation is monitored in the next few days."

The player completed the 90 minutes for Roma's league game on the weekend.
