United crush Fulham to close gap on Gooners

Without Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo, there were a few concerned faces amongst the Red Army. However, with a massive week ahead, Fergie's team selection looks like an excellent judgement as United cruised to a superb 3-0 win against struggling Fulham. Strikes from Owen Hargreaves and Ji-Sung Park plus an own-goal from Simon Davies put the Reds just a point behind leaders Arsenal.

Arsenal needed a last-gasp strike to get a draw at home to Aston Villa and are now without a win in four.

Meanwhile, United seem to be going from strength to strength and they comfortably closed the gap on the Gooners with an easy win in West London.

Hargreaves opened the scoring with an excellent free-kick on 15 minutes and JS Park doubled the lead as he headed home a clever cross from the impressive Paul Scholes. Fulham's misery was compounded on 72 minutes as Davies turned a John O'Shea cross into his own net.
