United set to offer Ronaldo lucrative new deal?

£44million?!

Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the verge of becoming the highest-paid player in the Premier League. Reports suggest that the Portuguese star is set to be offered a staggering new contract that will commit his long-term future to United. It is thought that the deal will pay the starlet an astonishing £140,000-per-week. The winger has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Espanyol and has made no secret of his desire to one day play in La Liga.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently tabling a £44million contract offer that would see Ronaldo sign on with the Red Devils until 2014.

The 22-year-old, signed from Sporting Lisbon in 2003, has been on sensational form for the club this season. He's netted an astonishing 27 goals and has also notched up plenty of assists from the right-flank.

Meanwhile, Portugal’s footballing bigwigs have urged Ronaldo to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future. Gilberto Madail, president of the country's Football Federation, believes that the player owes a lot to United and is happy to see him stay in Lancashire.

“He should be grateful to Manchester United and realise what this club has done for him as a footballer. Under Alex Ferguson, Cristiano has grown as a man. He cannot forget that."

Ronaldo will be hoping to continue his superb goalscoring exploits as United pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster with the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Man you're an idiot but we all knew that already. What you're basically saying is that Ronaldo isnt a good player, you're prbably the only person in the world who thinks so and you supposedly support United. Why dont you support Arsenal you know you want to. Please dont post on this board ever again if you feel like you need to write something just do us all a favour and leave it to yourself, you make us all sick. (Sm16)

Anyway off this loser and to something important, Ronaldo signed the deal until 2013. [sports.indiatimes.com]
