Sir Alex Ferguson is rumoured to be lining up a January offer for Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov. The tabloids are reporting that the Bulgarian wants to leave White Hart Lane; and United could well approach the North London club with a bid. ManUtdWeb understands that Louis Saha could be used in part-exchange for the Ģ20million-rated forward.
The 26-year-old's agent has told the press that the Bulgarian is considering his future and is very interested in joining a bigger club.
"Dimitar wants to fulfil his potential and win trophies now," said Emil Dantchev.
"Fans must understand Dimitar is 27 next month and time is running out for him to play for a club that can match his ambition. I would like to stress this is not about money. This is about sporting ambition."
Dantchev's words come just before the January transfer window and United are sure to have been alerted by the striker's supposed availability.
Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to bring fresh attacking talent to Old Trafford and was heavily linked with Berbatov over the summer.
Speculation suggests that the Scotsman may try and lure Spurs with a big-money offer which could see Louis Saha used as a part-exchange pawn. However, with Jermaine Defoe, Marcus Bent and Robbie all at White Hart Lane, Juanne Ramos may not want another striker and the club are unlikely to budge on their £20million valuation.
Despite Tottenham's disappointing season so far, Berbatov has been on sensational form. He netted four goals in Saturday's 6-4 rout of Reading and will head into the January transfer window brimming with confidence.
Personally i don't see it happening until the summer. Berbatov is Cup tied in Euro, so why would Fergie spend Ģ20 million on him. I think he will be shopping for a right back as Wes Brown will be leaving in the Summer, Danny Simpson looked ropey against Everton and Gary Neville just can't seem to recover from his injuries.
Berbatov isnīt cup tied - he can play in the CL Iīm sure.
Canīt see them accepting injury prone Saha!
Recent rumours seem to ne re-hashed from before - I hope you donīt get him as he could well be the next Cantona for you.

"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they dont like it." P Kenyon.
Berbatov is cup tied because the rule is that if a player moves to another club, and has played any time in either the Champions League or the UEFA Cup, they are cup tied. Tottenham are in the UEFA Cup. Does he know he won't even get a start unless Tevez or Rooney are injured, or it is the Carling Cup or FA Cup?
Would love to see Berbatov though. even if he is cup tied. Our striker situation is precarious at best. It's always going to be a forced selection if one of the current three is injured which seems to be unavoidable. We definitely need another quality reliable striker to help us challenge on all fronts. Larsson sure played his part last year.
There were rumours of him coming back this year again but unfortunately it wasnt to be. Wasnt surprising considering Helsingborg are still in the Uefa Cup. Would have been de ja vu if it he had come back and went straight in to the team to face Villa on Saturday.
We shouldn't buy Defoe or Berbatov when there are way better alternatives eg Benzema, Ben Arfa, Aguero. Berbatov is way to much money to pay, I would definitely have rathered Rossi, but no, we wanted to sell him. I would absolutely love it if Henrik Larsson came back, that would be just great.
To be honest I think you guy's will move away, from the spending money with little sell on value route. Cannot see this being a good business venture at all due to his age. Yeah the lad Benzema could be worth it, but Anelka and Berba, not sure.
Sell on value is not the be all and end all, if he helps us win a few league titles and the Champions League who would care if he left us on a free at the end of his contract?
As for his age, he's 26 (27 at the end of the month), that is peak age for strikers and I don't think that'll be a deterrence. Ģ20 million's a tad over the odds but i'd rather we paid that than let him go to Chel$ki or the @#$%&.
Bergstar, king eric and Scumpool, I totally agree with you, and thats what I've been saying to people this whole time. Give Lyon their 2 French players and a few million, and we get a young quality striker, who has the potential to be great. I have to admit, I would be a bit disappointed if we went and bought Berbatov or Anelka, because then we won't go for players like Benzema and Aguero. We should keep the players we want quiet, because as soon as we went for Berbatov, guess who comes in......Chel$ki.
