Gabriel Heinze will spend up to three weeks on the sidelines after picking up yet another injury. The left-back damaged his hamstring during the weekend's 2-0 win over Newcastle United, with his absence set to hand a chance to the out-of-favour Patrice Evra.

Gabriel Heinze looks set to spend another frustrating spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Argentinean international strained his hamstring after only 31 minutes of United's 2-0 win, and early indications suggest the left-back will spend up to three weeks in the treatment room nursing the latest in a string of frustrating injuries.

With Mikael Silvestre also facing an injury lay-off, Patrice Evra will get the opportunity to establish himself in Sir Alex Ferguson's plans. The French international could have a four-game run at first-team affairs and go some way to silencing his critics and prove himself worthy of regular first-team football with the club.
