Despite United being the Premiership's top scorers with ten goals after three games, Sir Alex Ferguson was critical of his star-studded attack following the 2-1 win at Watford. Mikael Silvestre and Ryan Giggs found the net for United, though the visitors did miss a host of chances at Vicarage Road.

Sir Alex Ferguson was critical of his Manchester United side despite watching them pick up a third straight Premiership win at the weekend.

The Scotsman was concerned at his side's wastefulness in front of goal as they wrestled their way to a 2-1 victory over Watford at Vicarage Road. United enjoyed some 19 attempts at goal, but faced a nervous time in securing the three points despite strikes from Mikael Silvestre and Ryan Giggs.

"Watford make it a real battle for you, but when we had chances to counter-attack, we should have kept the ball better." said Sir Alex.

"We had a lot of chances and didn't make them count and that needs to improve. It really needed someone to put their foot on the ball and enjoy passing the ball, but I don't think they did that. But you saw another side to us today. We had to battle to win the points."

United are, by some distance, the season's leading scorers in the Premiership with ten goals from their opening three matches. However, Fergie is allowing no room for imperfections and ill be looking for a more effective attacking threat from his side as they host Spurs after the international break.
