Attendance: 2,190 Was a good attendance considering the opposition that we had and that the game was pay at the gate.  I still think Dundee took the right choice to close the Bob Shankly and Derry with the away fans being housed in the end of the Main stand it never made the ground look as empty as it could have.

Dundee 3-1 Queen of the South

Juan Sara has finally hopefully returned to form with 2 goals in the CIS cup match which could have easily been 5 goals with Caballero scoring one goal too with Queen of the South player Peter Weatherson scoring a beautiful goal that Speroni had no chance with.

QOS looked dodgy at the start with a few defensive blunders that Dundee were unlucky to counter from but near the end of the game Queen of the South were starting to show a good side to there team.

Dundee went ahead in the 17th minute when Robbie Henderson lost the ball in the box while being closely marked by Garry Brady he then squared the ball to Juan Sara who was left with a tap in to score his first goal of this season.

Dundee then went further ahead in the 21st minute when stand in goal keeper Stuart Robertson failed to control and clear a long ball from Jonay Hernandez which left Fabian Caballero to walk the ball into the empty goal.

Queen of the South didn't give up easy and they came close to coming back into the game after Peter Weatherson hit a brilliant show past Speroni from 25 yards out, Which could easily be the goal of the round.

Caballero made an excellent run down the right wing in the 39th minute and made a low cross which Steven Lovell failed to reach but Juan Sara managed to get the ball and controlled the ball before finishing the ball of into the goal.

Paul Shields nearly pulled another goal back for Queen of the South when he got in front of the defenders and hit a great shot which Julian Speroni managed to clear.

At the end of the first half Dundee got a free kick and after a great cross Scottish Internationalist Gavin Rae struck the ball which was beautifully saved and unlucky not to be 4-1.

Dundee got a free kick in the 2nd half after Caballero got his shift pulled and from the free kick Lee got up in the air and headed it in only to be flagged for off side.  But was it offside?

Sara had 2 chances too score and complete his hat trick one being a bad miss hit from in front of the goal.  The second being an excellent shot from way out of the box which the Queen of the South keeper just managed to tip onto the bar.

Overall a good game and I cant wait to see Dundee play in the next round against Partick.
