A good solid display by Dundee could'nt break a poor Dundee United defence. The Dundee fans went home happy knowning that there is more good football ahead while united went away lying bottom of the league.

A good Dundee display couldn't break the Dundee United defence and get a goal.

It was a good solid display and Dundee deserved the victory which just wasn't to come.

United have struggled to score this season which was evident in the game.

Dundee Uniteds new signing Allan Smart may have set a record with coming on and then being sent off after only 9 minutes for a stupid challenge on Jonay Hernandez but Dundee were unable to help use the extra man to there advantage.

Steven Lovell was in the team line up and started the game after his late winner in his debut last week against Hibs.

Also making his starting debut was Tom Hutchinson who went straight into the line up with Lee Wilkie and both showed a solid display.

Nacho Novo was back in the line up with Juan Sara being dropped to the bench.

Novo showed a solid display and kept the united defence busy with continuous runs into the box.

Gavin Rae had a good chance in the second half with Paul Gallacher doing well to catch the ball.

United had a good free kick and Kevin McGowne managed to header and Julian Speroni pulled off a tremendous save.

Lovell should have scored with a 1 on 1 situation with the keeper but Lovell struck the ball straight at Gallacher.

Dundee looked brilliant with good runs from Nemsdaze, Cabballero and Novo but when Sara came on for Steven Lovell in the second half Dundee seemed to be offside every single time.

Dundee never made the extra man count which shows and Dundee would have deserved the victory.
