Stoke want a profitable amount from the tribunal

Stoke City's chairman has spoken of how he would like to make more money out of the proposed move of Kris Commons to Notitngham Forest than the last time they saw a player depart them for nothing. Commons looks set to sign for us although a tribunal would probably be needed in order to settle a fee.

According to This Is Staffordshire, Stoke's version of the Nottingham Evening Post Online- The Potters are looking to make a real profit out of Kris Commons' possible move to The City Ground after they failed to make as much as they could have done from the tribunal to settle the fee for the transfer of James O'Connor to West Bromwich Albion last season. In that move the tribunal did not respect The Potters' £1.25m valuation of the player and ruled that just a £350,000 maximum need be paid. This is probably also what will happen to Forest when Gareth Williams officially joins Leicester City. Stoke are saying that they would want a considerable amount for the player as they spent several years nurturing this young prospect and the loss of a player with such a bright future will surely prove a massive blow to the club. Also, the fact that they have offered so many contracts to Commons, proving that he was a valuable asset, will also count for something if indeed there is any justice in football. However much Stoke get for Commons (if he comes, which he looks set to) should easily be equaled if not topped by the fee we gain from the tribunal concerning Gareth Williams- this player was a Scottish international and a key member of our side. But even if we do end up effectively swapping the 2 talents, then at least we won't have to put up with a money bagging Judas in our side anymore... or will we? Unfortunately we have no way of knowing how much Commons has been offered by both clubs so far.
