The Bulldogs may have lost to the Bombers at the dome on Saturday night, Sunday at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo was slightly different. Good news for followers of the Werribee Tigers, and those that are interested in the Bulldog players involved. The team defeated a Bendigo side playing on their own turf and having actually won a game previously this season (unlike their predecessors the Diggers). The final margin was 55 points, leaving the tigers 2-1 after 3 rounds, and lying amongst a host of teams in the 8 on 8 points.

Bulldog Patrick Wiggins was dropped last week after failing to record a possession last week. This week, against slightly weakened opposition, he was one of the best with 5 goals. Lindsay Gilbee was returning from injury with a bang, with 4 goals and being named in the best.

A couple of the listed players also got onto the scoresheet. Nathan Eagleton kicked 2 goals, but still appears to need to work harder to regain his spot. Single goalkickers included youngsters Brent Colbert and Cameron Faulkner who continue to develop into more than decent footballers, and may see senior action quicker than expected if the injury list continues to grow.

However the best on the ground was Matthew Boyd. The only rookie on the rookie list this season, Boyd kicked 3 goals and was generally terrorising the Bomber opposition and supporters. With the long term injury to Matthew Robbins, it appears that his promotion (should it happen) to the senior list is well deserved.
