Betfred Cup draw

Season 2016 - 17 may only just be over for Airdrieonians but plans are already afoot for the first of the Cup competitions and the draw will take place on Friday the 2nd of June.

Last season Airdrie were drawn in Group E and faced:-

Partick Thistle lost 0-1
Queen of the South lost 0-2
Stenhousemuir won 2-1
Queens Park drew 3-3

These matches seemed to be used as pre-season friendlies for some of the team and althought we didn't progress I think the format worked.

The 2017 - 2018 season will once again consist of leagues of five teams and the matches will be played on 15 July, 19 July, 22 July, 26 July and 29 July (subject to broadcast selections).

Agree good games to gage team against ,would not be expecting to advance you never know we maybe sign 4 or5 good players.

Hopefully Ryan will still be here, i know the keeper played well in the play offs against Alloa, but we still need a more experienced keeper and a couple of decent defenders, i believe MW will have an idea who he will be bringing in, as above says, wont expect to advance, but look to get us ready for a league challenge,

Like last season's predictions I got all of this wrong! Can't see much chance to progress for either me or team, but live in hopeful optimism

Isn't that a pain in the ar$e first of all no Sat home fixture for us, then the only away fixture that appeals is St Mirren and only because i've not been to there new ground and i'm away on holiday.

Group H fixtures in full are as follows:

Saturday 15 July
Livingston v Partick Thistle, kick-off 3.00pm
Stranraer v St Mirren, kick-off 3.00pm

Tuesday 18 July
Airdrieonians v Stranraer, kick-off 7.45pm
St Mirren v Livingston, kick-off 7.45pm

Saturday 22 July
Livingston v Airdrieonians, kick-off 3.00pm
Partick Thistle v St Mirren, kick-off 3.00pm (Live on BT Sport)

Tuesday 25 July
Airdrieonians v Partick Thistle, kick-off 7.45pm
Stranraer v Livingston, kick-off 7.45pm

Saturday 29 July
Partick Thistle v Stranraer, kick-off 3.00pm
St Mirren v Airdrieonians, kick-off 3.00pm
