Airdrie made it six wins from six yesterday after beating Peterhead 4-2 at Balmoor Stadium. It was a blistering start for the Diamonds who went three goals up within 20 minutes. Yesterday’s result means we only have to beat Stenhousemuir and Livingston by the end of the second quarter and we’ve beat every team at least once this season.

Airdrie’s three goals came from Andy Ryan on 13 minutes, Seas McIntosh then got his 1st of the season a minute later, then I was Iain Russell’s turn to get in on the act scoring Airdrie’s third on the 19th minute.

Was there an Airdrie fan out there who thought it was game over? We should know better, Peterhead got one back as Peterhead got one back through Nicky Riley just after the half hour mark.

Early in the second half both teams had chances but the first break fell to Peterhead after some pushing and shoving in the box referee Newlands signalled that Gorman had given a foul and awarded Peterhead what was to be their first penalty of the afternoon, Kevin Dzierzawski stepped up and hit the shot but Rohan Ferguson went the right way and saved well.

Newlands was in a generous mood and on the 85th minute awarded Peterhead a second penalty, this time Leighton McIntosh made no mistake. 2 Vs. 3 and the Diamonds were under pressure.

That was until Andy Ryan scored his second on the 93rd minute sealing the victory for the Diamonds.

No change at the top of the prediction league, however Chris Mac has extended his lead over Dougie Lawries Ears by a point.

WE were three up and some of the few Airdrie fans near me were still chuntering on in negative ways about some of our players-makes you wonder what they consider support to be. Not many teams will go to Peterhead and return with four goals and three points. I enjoyed the play from both sides and look forward to seeing the highlights.
