I wish to advise that a book has been printed and will be officially published on 22nd July 2013 about the career of former 1970s Airdrie and Hearts icon Drew Busby, who later represented Morton and Queen of the South. Attached is a jpeg file of the Cover, back page and Order form.
Once printing costs and overheads are met from a small volume of initial sales, the remaining profit will be donated to the clubs Drew represented during his senior career.
To ensure a maximum return, We will ask for interested parties to complete an order form and make a direct payment to the bank account set up for this. This will eliminate the paypal profiteers as much as possible. On the order form, the purchaser can state which club they wish the donation to be made to (Airdrie/Hearts/Morton/Queen of the South).
The help of ex-Hearts player Donald Ford (who has assisted the Hearts Foundation) was sought and he has kindly provided a foreword. Donald has previewed the contents and described it as "an excellent read, in particular for those who saw Drew playing."
The 114 page book, measuring 8.25” x 5.85” (A5 pages) will be published in the summer 2013 and will contain many previously unseen images from Drew’s schools football teams through to the senior sides he represented. Some images have been sourced from Drew's own cuttings archive.
Drew’s recall is very engaging and captivating where he talks about the personalities he played with and against as well as the managerial styles of those he played under. Drew pulls no punches and tells about situations as they were. Revered at Broomfield Park and hero-worshipped at Tynecastle, this book will delight many. It is a must for any true football fan and will appeal to those aged 40+ who saw Busby star in senior football.
Priced at £9.99 plus £2.50 P&P (£12.49) for first class delivery, all profits from the publication will be donated to the senior clubs Drew represented. Busby and Jarvie should never have been split up. Either Hearts or Aberdeen should have bought both.
they could have done it at a higher level than hearts and aberdeen if taken together
Drew Busby is my hero! Grew up in he 70's and he was my favourite. An absolute gentleman also. This book is already on order for me!
Busby and Jarvie. Seems incredible that we had a striking partnership of their magnitude. They were the best in Scotland at the time and that was during a golden age when our teams were reaching and winning European finals.
They'd walk into the Scotland team nowadays and what would they be worth? Even in a depressed market, if Wanyama at Celtic is worth £12,000,000, then if Busby and Jarvie were around today they must be worth upwards of that.
We had real superstars playing for us back then, in a team of real stars. McKenzie, Johnquin, Goodwin, Whiteford, Mark Cowan (our George best), Busby, Jarvie and Billy Wilson on the wing. Bloody hell these guys were gods and they played for The Airdrie!

This looks like a good read. He played long before my time, but I've heard tales of that dim and distant from my dad, and it's important that young fans connect with earlier periods of our team's history.
Season 1970/71 we scored 60 goals. Only Celtic and Aberdeen scored more. Yet we conceded 65. Only Kilmarnock and Cowdenbeath did worse. Plenty goals following the Diamonds in those days.
i think i remember travelling to tynecastle one season with us sitting top of the league in old division 1

Busby a true class old fashioned centre forward.
Things must have been different then in that we had so many class players as agreed above.

There is a great book called Images of Sport by Bob Laird Third Lanark Athletic Football Club. Read a copy a few years ago and was very impressed. Don't know if you have seen it but it is worth a read.
