I vaguely remember in the first game of the season I saw v Stirling we started 4 3 3. Maybe try that again?

The interesting thing about the Stenny game is the apparent apathy surrounding it, at least judging by the lack of posts. Even the wee boys who talked up every player and berated anyone who dared to criticise seem to have deserted the ship. The news that Lilley is fit is very welcome; the news that Woodburn and Goodall aren't fit doesn't depress me in the slightest. It will be interesting to see if JB makes any major changes, but I doubt it. He seems to wear blinkers regarding some players, or perhaps he simply doesn't think he has anyone better to bring in. It is an easy option to criticise individual errors, but I think our problem runs deeper than that. Our ruled out winner against Stirling demonstrated how effective we can be when a player makes a pass then moves to receive a return. We simply don't do this enough. Watch when a player gets down the wing and into a crossing position how many other players are bursting a gut to get into the box. Probably Donnelly and that'll be about it. On the other hand when teams attack us, there is often 4 or 5 opponents rushing forward to get into position. Ok, we don't have the best players in the division and the fans accept that, but what @#$%&*s people off is the seeming lack of effort and interest. Hopefully today will prove me wrong.

His lack of effort, laziness, shiteness and whatever you want to call it is @#$%& a lot of folk off.
He does not deserve to be in the team on the basis of EVERY game since the start of the season.
Stevenson and Lynch should be the first choice CM pairing. I really like Sean, hes quietly effective without ever being outstanding, gets into dangerous positions for a defensive midfielder aswell.
If it were up to me i'd be playing . . .

Agree on this team but maybe give Morton a chance. He hit good form at the tail end of last season. Big Holmes is a good "impact" sub.

Whatever formation Boyle's set out today seems to be working - 3-0 Airdie on the stroke of half-time. How has he set the midfield up?

The Stenny game started with Owens and Malone missing from the line up. We also seemed much more up for the game with more running into spaces. We had a few sticky moments when the game went to 3-2, but the fourth goal settled us back down again. Whether we were much improved or Stenny were poor is a debatable point, but we scored 5 good goals (although the fourth could have been offside). The down side was Lilley's bad challenge which saw him red carded. Why he chose to do this when 5-2 up with only a few minutes to go only he will know. In fairness we could have scored more goals and there was certainly plenty of goal mouth action which for me is what football is all about. Boyle continues to improve and I reckon he is worth his starting place alongside Donnelly as these two give defenders a lopt to think about. Unfortunately, neither is likely to win much in the air and we still have a tendency to punt hopeful balls forward and corners are still a waste of time. However, a great team effort with no poor performances, and when was the last time you could say that?
