After a summer break, The Co-operative Insurance Cup 1st round helps mark the start of the new Scottish football season and YOU could be there as an official Co-operative Insurance Cup mascot! The initiatives to support The Co-operative Insurance Cup Football Family Funday continue to be launched ahead of the First Round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup on August 1 and 2. Last week details of where to find out how to win coaching sessions were announced and this week the mascot competition is announced for two of these ties.

As part of the programme to give as many people as possible the opportunity to get involved in its sponsorship of The Co-operative Insurance Cup, The Co-operative Insurance has teamed up with SFL clubs to give lucky young fans the dream opportunity to lead their team out in the first round of The Co-operative Insurance Cup.

The mascot competition over the next week is looking for youngsters to lead out Stirling Albion against Ayr United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle against Annan Athletic. Details of mascots required for the remaining first round ties will be announced next Friday July 10.

As well as leading their side out in The Co-operative Insurance Cup, the lucky winner will receive a pair of match tickets for themselves and an accompanying parent or guardian. They will be able to enjoy all the excitement of the match from one of the best seats in the stadium – AND get their hands on an exclusive Co-operative Insurance Cup mascot kit.

Entrants must be aged between 8 and 12 years old and the winner must be accompanied to the game by a parent or guardian. To be in with a chance of winning this exclusive prize, courtesy of The Co-operative Insurance, all you have to do is answer a question in next weeks Stirling Observer for Stirling fans and Inverness Courier for Caley fans.

The mascot and coaching class competitions are just two elements of The Co-operative Insurance Cup Football Family Funday. To mark the start of the new football season U-16s accompanied by a paying adult will get in FREE to all Co-operative Insurance 1st round matches, the first 100 Under 16s through the turnstiles will receive a free Co-operative Insurance Cup mini-football and the first 500 Under 16s at the game will receive a free football skills poster designed by Scotland U-21s coach, Billy Stark.

Co-operative Insurance Sponsorship Manager Aileen Waters said, “At the Co-operative Insurance we believe in playing an active role in our sponsorships. Through the initiatives that make up our grassroots programme our aim is to increase participation in football among children aged 6-16 and to encourage players of all abilities.”

Waters added, “To celebrate the launch of the new Cup campaign, the clubs, the Scottish Football League and The Co-operative Insurance are working together to encourage youngsters to enjoy local football by offering free entry for Under 16s plus there are free coaching sessions, the chance to lead your team out as a mascot, Co-operative Insurance Cup skills posters and mini footballs up for grabs to get the domestic season off to a flying start.”
