Airdrie United finally caught hold of a life line today, as we ran out 1 - 0 winners at Clyde after a Kevin MacDonald first half goal.
Kevin McDonald got the only goal after 14 minutes when he picked up possession near the halfway line and was allowed to run at the Clyde defence his low skidding shot nestled in the bottom right-hand corner giving the Clyde keeper no chance.
Airdrie United dominated the first half and Graeme Holmes twice went close as the Diamonds attacked from the restart. One effort went into the side-netting and another rebounded off the upright.
Ian Harty almost doubled the advantage when he was released by Marc Smyth's diagonal ball but again the ex-Bully Wee hitman was denied by David Hutton.
Clyde stepped-up the pace in the second half but the Diamonds defence held out.
Ian Harty was denied a second goal and an Airdrie United clincher by the lines man late in the second half.
As one fan said "it was like the Alamo" in the second half but Airdrie United held out for a vital three points.
