It has been today confirmed that RMI will, for the second year in succession, play host to FC United of Manchester in a pre-season friendly. Rebel club FCUM, set up by Manchester United supporters disgruntled at the manner of Malcolm Glazer's takeover of the Old Trafford side, played their first ever game against RMI, attracting more than 2,500 fans to Hilton Park on a scorching summer day.

United won the North West Counties Division Two title at a canter last season and have been the subject of several television documentaries as they prepare for life in Divison One of the North West Counties next season, where they are set to face local sides Atherton Collieries and Atherton Laburnum Rovers.

The game against FC will take place at Hilton Park on Saturday 5th August, with RMI's only other game at home during the pre-season sees Conference National side Altrincham visit Hilton Park on Monday 24th July, although there are local away games against Clitheroe, St. Helens, Rossendale and Skelmersdale.
