It has been confirmed that Carshalton Athletic has lost their appeal against their relegation from Conference South, meaning that RMI will now stay up and play in the Conference North for next season. Despite finishing second bottom in the Conference North and therefore in a spot that would've normally seen them relegated to the Unibond Northern Premier League, RMI had thought that their Conference North status had been confirmed when Canvey Island dropped two divisions from the Conference National and as such only one side would be relegated.

As two of the three sides that have been promoted in to the Conference National came from the Conference North division, and with a northern side in the form of Scarborough coming down, it made sense that both RMI and Scarborough would start 2006/07 in the Conference North.

However, Carshalton believed that because they had gained one more point than RMI in their equivalent division during the course of this season that they were more deserving to retain their status. However, their appeal was rejected earlier today, and as such RMI can now plan for life as a Conference North club for the 2006/07 season.
