A late Wigan Athletic equaliser denied RMI a home victory against their local rivals despite holding a one goal lead for a long period in this evening's game at Hilton Park. RMI started brightly and took an early lead through former Mansfield Town striker Craig Mitchell when the impressive debutant latched on to an excellent through-ball from Unofficial RMI Online's man of the match, Warren Peyton, to fire past Latics goalkeeper James Salisbury, ironically an ex-RMI player.

RMI held the lead for a long period and could've extended their lead, although Latics went close through the impressive Magno Silva Vieira, along with an excellent save from the RMI goalkeeper and the Latics centre back hitting the post with a thumping header from a corner.

However, RMI weren't to win the game when the Latics number 10 put the ball past substitute RMI goalkeeper Ian Martin with barely five minutes remaining on the clock.
