Railwaymen manager Mark Patterson believes that Conference safety should still be main target for RMI this season, despite the excellent start to the season which sees RMI in the top half of the table five games in to the season. RMI's bright start to the season has seen them lose just one game out of five, with an impressive victory away at Northwich and a home victory against promotion hopefuls and perennial FA Cup heroes Dagenham & Redbridge on the opening day to boot, as well as a home draw with high flying Yorkshiremen (yes you did see those words together in a sentence) Halifax Town.

Although Patterson is "Happy" at RMI's start, he still fervently believes that RMI shouldn't get ahead of themselves and the main aim should still be to simply survive against the odds in the Conference for the fourth consecutive season.

RMI's bid for at least Conference football, if not a place in next season's LDV Trophy, has been boosted with the arrival of Salford business Mike Peck as the new chief executive, and he was instrumental in the arrival of former Manchester City and Bury defender Steve Redmond who has brought a settling influence and plenty of experience to an otherwise fairly young RMI side.
