New chief executive wants promotion

New Leigh RMI chief executive Mike Peck is looking to help the Railwaymen achieve the ultimate goal of promotion to the Nationwide Football League. Salford businessman Peck, who joined the club's board last week and was immediately installed as the club's first chief executive, believes that RMI should use Second Division outfit Rushden & Diamonds as their 'model'.

Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds were both in similar struggling financial positions to that of RMI prior to Dr. Martens owner Max Griggs merging the two clubs and revitalising the clubs fortunes. Griggs moved the club to a new stadium, just as RMI are going to, and eventually took the club to the Second Division. Peck believes that with his finances and business sense that RMI can achieve similar success.

Manchester City support Peck had been looking to get involved in a Conference club for some time and played a vital part in the transfer to RMI of former City and Bury star Steve Redmond earlier this month and is looking to help RMI manager Mark Patterson sign another three or four quality players which he believes will also help entice the Leigh public to Hilton Park and to support their local football club.
