Keighley-born midfielder David Dempsey made his Leigh debut in a 3-1 loss away to Garforth Town on Tuesday 18th January 2011, with his home debut coming in a 3-2 win over Trafford at Crilly Park in the Evo-Stik League First Division North on Tuesday 25th January 2011, with the combative Dempsey selected as captain for the evening.

Dempsey has previously played for Clitheroe, Kendal Town and Runcorn Linnets.

Dempsey's first Leigh goal came on 19th March 2011 when he put Genesis in front against local rivals Chorley only to lose 2-1 at Crilly Park.
