Coach travel to Garforth

This Saturday sees Leigh Genesis travel over the Pennines to take on Garforth Town in the Evo-Stik League First Division North, and coach travel is available for any supporters wishing to make the trip.

Leigh ran out 1-0 victors when the two sides met in the league earlier in the season and Alan Kershaw's side will be looking to complete a league double over the Leeds-based outfit after an encouraging performance in Bank Holiday Monday's meeting with Wakefield.

Coach travel is available to supporters by calling 07800 874 831 or by e-mailing mary.croasdale@leighgenesis.com, with seats costing £10 per head and the coach leaving the Leigh Sports Village at 11.30am and returning to Leigh shortly after the game.

On the subject of Monday's 1-0 loss to Wakefield at Crilly Park, Kershaw was keen to look at the many positives from the encounter.

"It was a disappointing result against Wakefield as we had a lot of the ball and played some very good football, especially in the second half, not to mention missing a couple of key players in the likes of Andy Heald and Nick Eastham."

Joining Kershaw in the Crilly Park dugout was veteran goalkeeper Phil Priestley (pictured below), who has joined the club as back-up to number one goalkeeper Adam Judge and is also working alongside Kershaw and player/coaches Andy Heald and Steve Brockley. Priestley has played for a whole host of clubs including Rochdale, Bangor City, Radcliffe Borough and Stalybridge Celtic, and even played against his new club earlier in the season for Runcorn Linnets in an FA Cup tie at Crilly Park.

I'm not sure whether I'll be there or not yet but if so I'll be going on the coach - hope I can make it as Garforth is the only ground I've not been to yet in this league!

Preistly was supposed to be FC's 1st keeper, but couldn't play at Leigh so Barrie George got the shirt instead.

I knew he'd been at FC at some point, but wasn't sure whether he played much or just helped on the coaching side.

For those who haven't had a text off me or Nick, 10am meet at Wetherspoon's for the early risers, though presumably Mick will be in the Ale House from 6am at the latest.
