Leigh Genesis FC wish to announce the departure by mutual consent of their First Team Manager Mark Maddox.

Mark has been with the club since May of this year and has built an enthusiastic young team who have worked extremely hard against some strong opposition in the hugely competitive Evo-Stik League First Division North and even made a playing appearance as a substitute in October's League Cup meeting with Curzon Ashton.

Leigh Genesis chairman Alan Leach commented "The whole committee are sad to see Mark go. He has been a pleasure to deal with during his time with us, approaching his role as manager in a mature and professional manner. We would like to thank him sincerely for his contribution to the club as a whole and wish him every success in his future career."

Players and supporters will join in wishing Mark well, and he will always be welcome at Leigh Genesis' games in the future.

In the wake of Maddox's departure, the club have approached Youth Team Manager Alan Kershaw to take over the running of the first team, and Alan has accepted this challenge and will take over day to day running with immediate effect.

Whilst in charge of the youth team, Alan has helped smooth the progression of the likes of Steve Ferrigan, James Carey, Carl Forrester and Craig Carney in to making the step up from the youth team to representing the club's first team during the course of the season so far. Genesis' youth team, as managed by Kershaw, currently stand at second place in the Lancashire Floodlit League and will be keen to continue with their success.

Alan has a wealth of experience as a professional player from 1969 to 1982, apeparing for Preston North End, Southport, Dundee United, Sydney City and IFK Malmo before going on to coach with Preston North End, Everton, Norweigan side FK Mandalskameratene and in Australia as Coaching Director for Football Queensland, with his qualifications including, amongst others, a UEFA Coaching License.

Sad to see Maddo go as he was an absolute pleasure to work with, but hopefully this change might see us start to pick up a few more wins.

hopefully be able to keep a few first teamers and no doubt alan will be playing youth team players aswell, like you say matt sad to see maddo go but a change might see a change in fortune

Its always hard seeing a manager leave, hope he gets fixed up soon with a new job. Just wish Alan can turn it round for us.

Would think some of the more senior and local players (Healdy and Brock spring to mind) will stay but I'd think it likely that a few of the lads brought in by Maddo might be looking for clubs nearer to Liverpool.

Time will tell mate as I'm sure there must be a few who are based nearer than Liverpool.

hope so, but if they move on wish them well in there footballing career, just please dont move to a club in the same division
