Vauxhall Motors vs. Leigh Genesis preview

Leigh Genesis' pre-season campaign continues on Saturday when they travel to Ellesmere Port for a testing friendly fixture against Blue Square North outfit Vauxhall Motors.

Having won 2-1 against West Cheshire League side Newton on Tuesday evening, Genesis make a swift return to the Wirral as they look to continue their unbeaten pre-season record that currently stands at two wins and one draw.

Hosts Vauxhall Motors, who finished in twentieth position in last season's Blue Square North but were reprieved for relegation, have struggled so far in an admittedly tough pre-season schedule. They have suffered 3-0 and 4-0 defeats to a Blackburn Rovers XI and Wrexham respectively, with a 2-1 defeat at Leigh's Evo-Stik Division One North rivals Witton Albion being preceeded by Vauxhall's one win of the pre-season, a 1-0 home victory over North West Counties League side Formby, the previous club of Genesis boss Mark Maddox.

Leigh's last visit to Rivacre Park came in October 2007 when former Leigh boss Steve Bleasdale, who included Maddox in his Leigh side that day, began his second spell in charge of the club with a 2-2 draw with goals from Kieran Lugsden and Richard Chetcuti being cancelled out by Anthony Wright and a last minute equaliser from David Roberts.

Kick off is at 3pm at Rivacre Park, which is situated close to junction five on the M53.

Quick note about today's game that I believe it's not taking place at the main ground and instead on the pitch next door as the main pitch is waterlogged!

It'll also kick off at 3.15, presumably to allow people to find the pitch!

ok, will it be easy to find and the postcode for it the same??

Leyther_Matt

Yeah it will be, the pitch is literally next door to the ground so you just park on the main car park as normal.

Think they'd be a bit cheeky to charge if we're just playing them on a pitch rather than the actual ground!
