Genesis have six appeal!

Hot on the heels of their Crilly Park home passing an inspection to host Evo-Stik League Division One North football next season, Leigh Genesis have begun their squad building for next season with the retention of six players from their successful side of the previous campaign.

With veteran midfielder Andy Heald recently confirmed as player-coach as part of Mark Maddox's off-field team, five further players have underlined their commitment to represent the club next season.

In a huge coup for the club, dependable left back Kris King has committed to a third consecutive season. Although still only twenty one years of age, King has made a total of seventy three appearances over the past two seasons to cement his place in the side.

Also staying with the club is highly-rated winger Chris Dykes. The twenty one year old, who previously played for Macclesfield Town, will also be entering his third season with the club, overcoming an unlucky succession of injuries to establish himself in the Leigh side towards the back end of last season to take his tally to a total of twenty one appearances since his debut in November 2008.

Dykes is joined by nineteen year old Scott Sephton, who is equally at home at right back or in midfield. Sephton made a goalscoring debut as a seventeen year old midfielder in November 2008, but last season had a successful run in the side as a right back before losing his place due to injury, eventually making a total of thirty five appearances for the club so far.

Maddox's selection options have also been boosted with the return of nineteen year old striker Richard Ratcliffe, who joined the club in January of this year having previously played for Stockport County and in Sweden for Ytterhogdals IK, scoring one goal in nine starts and six substitute appearances for Leigh last season.

Completing this raft of signings is nineteen year old central midfielder David Hill, who has found himself on the fringes of the Leigh first team squad for the past two seasons, making a total of twenty two appearances since his debut in November 2008.

In securing such thrilling prospects who have already provided admirable service to the club, it's an exciting indication of a blend of youth and experience that will take to the field next season in a Leigh shirt.

Really glad we've secured these lads - keeping hold of Kingy is a huge boost I reckon, the lad has got so much experience considering his age.

Reckon Dykesy and Sephton are really top quality prospects as well.

Considering their ages though Paul they've actually got a fair amount of experience. Even Hilly was at least around the first team every week last year, even if he wasn't playing.

Would almost feel sorry for Drenchy if he stayed as the lad deserves a crack at a higher level, I reckon - would obviously be chuffed if he stayed, mind.
