Curzon game postponed

Leigh's eagerly-awaited fixture against promotion rivals Curzon Ashton has unfortunately been postponed after the Hurst Cross pitch failed an inspection earlier this morning.

In similar circumstances to last weekend's postponed fixture against Rossendale United, the UniBond League have admirably allowed clubs to carry out inspections on the Friday prior to a Saturday game as opposed to the usual practice of waiting until matchday.

With the venue for the game, Ashton United's Hurst Cross ground, still under several inches of snow, it didn't take long for a decision to be made and the game to be postponed.

It marks the sixth game in succession that Garry Flitcroft's side have seen postponed since defeating AFC Fylde 4-1 at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium on Saturday 19th December last year.

A new date for the Curzon game will be announced in due course. Weather permitting, Leigh's next scheduled game comes at Colne on Tuesday (19th December, 7.45pm) evening in a Lancashire FA Co-Operative Challenge Trophy Quarter Final tie that has already been postponed on two occasions in recent weeks.

Think we're looking in to various alternatives Dale, just depends who else is off. My preferred one is the cheap option of Atherton LR or Daisy Hill, but Accrington is one of our back-up plans.
