Colne game postponed

Leigh Genesis' Lancashire FA Co-Operative Challenge Trophy Quarter Final tie away to Colne, scheduled to take place this evening, has been cancelled because of the heavy snow that has hit the region in the past 24 hours.

Should the weather allow it, the game has been re-scheduled to take place at Colne's Holt House Stadium next Tuesday evening (12th January) with a 7.45pm kick off.

Leigh's next fixture is now scheduled to be a UniBond League Division One North fixture against Rossendale United at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium this Saturday (9th January) with a 3pm kick off, weather permitting.

Agree with both of the above posts, going to be fun trying to cram all of these fixtures in when it's getting later in the season!

i know this might sound crazy but why does non league take a winter break or play summer football(i know it wont happen of course), but with all the games off during winter months it could work out better with some clubs to increse the attendances with the league clubs having there break...Well???

stands back and waits to be shot down lol i must keep of the loopy juice lol

re a winter break, the problem is you cant predict when you will get the bad weather. Last year Dec and Jan was reasonably Ok and the bad spell came in Feb, so when do you have your break?

I may be old fashioned but football is a winter sport, I wouldnt want summer football, but I AM an old fogey!!

Think you hit the nail on the head there Paul - it was late November and early December that was the problem last year where we went a month without a game; it's one thing avoiding the frozen pitches of the winter, but still does not to prevent waterlogged pitches in the autumn or spring.

That said, I'd certainly entertain the idea of a winter break but I think it'd have to be summat that went as far as including Leagues One and Two or else the loan system would be largely destroyed.
