After a testing pre-season campaign, Garry Flitcroft's Leigh Genesis side begin their UniBond League Division One North campaign tomorrow afternoon when they travel to East Lancashire to take on Rossendale United.

After mounting an impressive recruitment campaign during the summer, Flitcroft is set to hand debuts to the Baguley brothers, Chris and Jamie, signed from FC United of Manchester, former England Under 21 and Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Jansen, with the likes of Lee Green, Gomez Dahl and Jamie Waldron looking to earn their competitive debuts after impressing in recent friendlies.

The match is the first meeting between the two sides since Dino Maamria got on the scoresheet in a 4-2 Leigh win at Dark Lane in the quarter finals of the Lancashire FA Trophy in February 2003.

Hosts Rossendale actually finished bottom of the UniBond League Division One North table last season after a thrilling relegation battle with Salford City, but circumstances meant that they were reprieved from relegation to the North West Counties League.

The ground is situated in the village of Newchurch in the Rossendale valley, which can be reached via the M66 and then the A56, while those wishing to travel by public transport have the opportunity to take in something different and go on the largely steam powered East Lancashire Railway, which runs to nearby Rawtenstall from Heywood, via Bury.

Kick off is at 3pm, with admission costing £7 for adults, £4 for concessions and £1 for under 14's.
