FC United of Manchester vs. Leigh Genesis preview

This Saturday sees Leigh Genesis look to climb off the bottom of the table when they visit Bury's Gigg Lane home to take on neighbours FC United of Manchester, just a matter of weeks since the two sides attracted over 1,300 supporters to the inaugural football fixture at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium.

In that fixture, goals in each half from Jerome Wright and Jamie Baguley secured a comfortable victory for FC United, but in recent games Leigh have shown that their season is by no means over and, with several improved performances, are only a matter of time from getting the type of result that their displays deserve.

Despite losing 3-0 at Nantwich Town on Saturday, FC United find themselves occupying the final play-off position in fifth place in the UniBond Premier League table and will be looking to extend their advantage over sixth placed Ilkeston Town, though the Derbyshire outfit currently have five games in hand over Karl Marginson's side.

Former Leigh striker Tristram Whitman is likely to appear for United, along with midfielder Carlos Roca, a regular opponent of Leigh's from his days with Carlisle United and Stalybridge Celtic.

Supporters wishing to travel by public transport to Gigg Lane can do so by using the regular 582 service from Leigh Bus Station to Bolton Moor Lane, changing for several services that run to Bury Interchange, or join the 524 service that runs along Manchester Road and past the stadium.

If travelling by car, parking is restricted around the ground, although car parking is available in the Manchester Road area, just a few minutes walk from the ground.

Kick off is at 3pm with admission costing £7.50 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for under 18's, with Leigh supporters being segregated in one half of the Main Stand. Make sure you get along to the game and give the lads your full vocal support.
