With negotiations still ongoing with the Leigh Sports Village, Leigh Genesis have been forced to once again look for an alternative venue ahead of Saturday's home game with Eastwood Town; finalising a deal to play this fixture at Shawbridge, home of Clitheroe FC.

A statement posted on the official Leigh Genesis website reads as follows;

With negotiations still ongoing with the Sports Village Stadium, we have once again been unable to confirm the date of our debut game there, and being five days ahead of the next match, have been forced to source an alternative venue once again.

With most of our usual hosts and local teams having home games, reserve games or a backlog of matches due to the recent inclement weather, we have been forced to look further afield for a home for the Eastwood game.

Sincere apologies go out to all our fans for the extra distance this will add to their journey, but being unable to finalise the plans with LSV Co and subsequently investigating and contacting no less than 40 other venues, Clitheroe was the only remaining option available to us.

We thank the team at Clitheroe FC for accommodating this game at short notice, along with our friends at the Unibond league who once again have been incredibly supportive regarding our difficult position. Thanks also to our opposition and all at Eastwood FC for their understanding in the matter.

We are now confident that our opening game at the LSV Stadium will be for the big match against FC United of Manchester on Tuesday 27th January... please keep an eye on the website and local press for announcements soon!

• The home fixture with Cammell Laird, postponed due to the weather on Saturday, has been re-scheduled to take place on Saturday 28th March.
