As RMI travel to Scarborough for their final away game of the season on Saturday afternoon, the gripping battle to avoid relegation is still some way from being resolved. After Worksop fell to a 1-0 defeat at Farsley Celtic in midweek, RMI find themselves with the upper hand in the relegation battle after last Saturday's 1-0 home win over Nuneaton lifted Stuart Humphreys' side out of the drop zone.

Even with just two games of the season remaining, two sides from Scarborough, Worksop, Redditch United, Stalybridge Celtic or RMI could still find themselves joining Lancaster City in falling through the Conference North trapdoor, ensuring a dramatic conclusion to the season, as was the case last year when RMI's last day win over champions Northwich Victoria wasn't enough to stop them finishing in the third relegation spot, although Conference regulations later provided an unlikely reprieve.

Should RMI manage to win at the McCain Stadium on Saturday then they will find themselves potentially three points clear of the relegation zone, should other results go their way, whilst consigning Scarborough to their second successive relegation.

Leigh boss Stuart Humphreys has just one particular selection issue ahead of the trip to North Yorkshire with fit-again top scorer Chris Simm pushing to replace Dan Owen alongside Kevin Rapley up front.

The McCain Stadium can be reached from Leigh via the M62, M1 and A1(M), with RMI's last visit resulting in a 3-0 defeat in the Conference National in March 2005, although the Seadogs were defeated 4-3 on their own patch in an incredible FA Cup tie in 2001.

The last league meeting between the sides saw Lee Unsworth make his RMI debut in a 1-1 draw on a stormy October day in the corresponding fixture at Hilton Park earlier in the season, with Chris Simm scoring RMI's goal on that particular afternoon.

In an effort to boost their support at such a crucial stage of the season, third bottom Worksop Town have decided to grant free admission to all spectators at Babbage Way for their game with Moor Green on Saturday, but no such gimmicks shall be required with a four-figure gate expected at Scarborough, boosted with what should be an above-average RMI away following for such a vital fixture.
