14. Mark Jones (7) – Showed his pace in taking the try and looked dangerous whenever he had the ball, for my liking he didn’t see enough of it.

13. Jamie Robinson (6) – Took him 75mins to come alive and he looked great when making that break, until then very subdued and you have to think he is under threat.

12. Mathew J Watkins (5) – Again filling a hole out of position for his country and once again he did a job without being spectacular, his defence is definitely improving but he’ll be wondering when he’ll get his chance at 13.

11. Shane Williams (8) – One of the experienced heads in the side and made sure he made a contribution, he looks in top form and caused Argentina no end of problems.

10. Nicky Robinson (6) – Played ok but his kicking could have won Wales the game and his kicking from hand was a little off, one who’ll want a big game next week.

9. Michael Phillips (7) – He struggled for long periods of the game and his distribution was not great, always had the eye for dart and his hand off on the Argie prop was a joy to behold, world class potential without a doubt.

8. Alix Popham (6) – Popham smashed the Pumas in typical fashion and really took the game to them, he has been marked down for his yellow card which cost Wales dear.

7. Gavin Thomas (6) – Dougie put himself in the thick of it and showed why he as been selected, again marked down for the yellow card but a good performance.

6. Alun Wyn Jones (7) – Out of position but you wouldn’t have known it, athletic whilst carrying and aggressive at the ruck, a very positive debut.

5. Ian Evans (8) – A great game and the player Wales have craved for years, showed great pace for a man of 6’8 to score an interception try and won more than his share of lineout ball. Was not bullied by the ferocious Argentina locks and will now have a cult following.

4. Ian Gough (8) – Gough was my Wales MOTM, the oldest player in the team and he really took the game to Argentina putting in big hit after big hit, would have inspired those around him by his sheer commitment and drive.

3. Adam Jones (7) – Another feather in the cap after coping with the world class Roncero, has really worked at his open game and does his fair share of carrying.

2. Mathew Rees (7) – Good game for Smiler in the tight and the line out went reasonably well, I was pleased with his effort.

1. Duncan Jones (7) – Proud moment for big Dunc Leading Wales for the first time, he’ll have been pleased with how his pack played. He has had better games personally but he scrumaged well and was his usual busy self.

Hookie – Made an impact in showing impressive strength for a great debut try, I’m on the bandwagon for him to start at 12 next week.

Yapp – Only on for a few mins but gave the Argentina tight head a torrid time

Ledesma – A massive player who was at the centre of everything

Hernandez – Very classy player and looked world class, the Welsh will need to keep an eye on him next week.

Well we lost, but didn’t we lose well……..

Many of us including me would have been a little apprehensive about the Welsh boys playing against the fearsome Argentina 8, but the forwards in particular from 1 to 8 gave everything, the commitment was just what we expect from the Welsh. They played with aggression to match the class we had outside.

The referee has to be mentioned, he was very quick to get the yellows out for Wales despite having warned Roncero several times before, we basically lost the game at that point.

Some of the rugby we played was a joy to watch, it is now all on the 2^nd test in Buenos Aries we need to play more consistently for 80mins and keep the errors down. We would have scared the Argentineans and a win next week would be massive for Wales.
