Baggies Capture Purse

West Brom today completed the signing of Birmingham City defender Darren Purse. The 27-year-old has joined Albion for £750,000 after passing a medical and signing a 3-year-deal. The signing of Darren Purse is the third of the summer after the capture of defender Martin Albrechtsen and Leicester defender/midfielder Riccardo Scimeca.

The former Oxford City defender was targeted by Albion back in 1998, but Trevor Francis, then the Birmingham manager, managed to beat us to Purse's signature.

Since moving to Blues in 1998, Purse has made a total of 196 appearances and has scored 11 times
