Hodgson happy with Brunt as Captain

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has insisted today that he is happy with Chris Brunt in the role of Captain.  The Captain's armband had been firmly with goal keeper Scott Carson during the first half of the season, with Brunt picking up the responsibility after Carson experienced a dip in form and was dropped from the first team line up.

But Hodgson is happy for Chris Brunt to keep the Captain's arm band, even with Carson making a return to the starting eleven in recent weeks.  The Albion gaffer believes that the responsibility is a very important one, and admits he has never been a fan of the arm band going to a goal keeper. 

Hodgson admitted he prefered an outfield player to take on the Captain's role.  He told the Express and Star, “I don’t know why but I suppose it’s conventional and conservative because most of my captains down the years have been midfielders or defenders.”
